On July 16, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services proposed a rule that would ban third-party companies from delivering Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) and Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) services billed to Medicare.

If finalized, practices that rely on vendor-supported RPM — including small, rural, and understaffed clinics — would lose the monitoring programs their patients depend on. The comment period closes September 14, 2026.
